FIBERGLASS INSULATION
Fiberglass insulation is what we normally see in existing installations. Usually its in the form of Batt Insulation which come in rolled sections of insulation with a paperbacking. This form of insulation is extremely economical and easy to install.Fiberglass insulation consists of long strands of glass fiber that maintain its shape and loft even when compressed. This type of insulation has been used for decades, but recently it has been improved with newer technologies like spray-applied fiberglass insulation. Spray-applied fiberglass has similar insulating properties as traditional fiberglass but also allows for more flexibility and ease of installation. It is also lightweight, which can make it more suitable for use in tight spaces. However, using this material by itself can have negative consequences such as heat loss and air gaps. This is why we recommend that if your heart is set on this form of insulation, you incorporate other forms of insulation to seal the gaps that form from the light fixtures, air vents & fans, holes where wires and pipes run, etc. Incorporating mustiple forms of insulation such as foam insulation will help you achieve the r-value you are looking for.
